A Non-Traditional Backyard Pacific Northwest Wedding
Larissa + Cameron had the absolute sweetest non-traditional Pacific Northwest backyard wedding in Washington. They rented out a woodsy lil AirBnb in Kalama, where their friends camped and where they held their ceremony. Every single part of the day was so intentional + them – no wedding tradition was included just for the sake of tradition. The only other vendor besides myself for photography was the Novella Theory Co who arranged incredibly whimsical + modern floral designs. Their talented friend made all the food for the cocktail hour + dinner (hands down, this was the BEST food I have EVER eaten at a wedding). And their other friend prepared all the cocktails (also, the BEST), and Larissa’s mom handmade the cloth napkins.
Their day was laidback and heartfelt, and so beautifully meaningful. For the ceremony, they walked down the aisle together to the arbor where their two close friends were standing to officiate. They chose not to do rings, and instead shared their vows that they wrote for each other. It was simple, and sweet, and intentional.
During dinner there were informal open toasts, and one of the officiants surprised Cameron by reading a letter Cam’s family had wrote him. Cameron’s family was unable to attend in person as they are currently in Scotland, so it was truly touching to watch his reaction to this surprise. I mean, we were definitely all feeling all the feelings. They ended the night with desserts + dancing. And that’s how you do a non-traditional backyard wedding in the Pacific Northwest folks!
Lars + Cam, thank you so much for having me document your day. You two made me feel so valued all day. And your friends are just the kindest people (the fun photos of them are some of my faves!!!). I had the absolute greatest time celebrating you. Thank you.
