Sarah + Jay made all my moody PNW photographer dreams come true for this romantic couples session in the rain on Cannon Beach. They came from California to meet me on the Oregon Coast, and even though it was supposed to rain, they were 1000% still down for it. I grew up in SoCal, but I never really was a fan of the beach (or the sun…the palm trees…. the list goes on). But y’all – the rain at Cannon Beach just hits different. There’s forest, caves, coves, sand dunes, and of course, the infamous Haystack Rock. I moved to the PNW for rainy weather, and this quintessential Oregon session made me feel like I finally found where I belong.
I was so excited and grateful that Sarah + Jay were so down to embrace the rain. Even though it was freezing cold, they had such great energy. This ended up being one of my favorite sessions of all time, and some of my favorite photos ever. We started our session at Cannon Beach by Haystack Rock which is usually PACKED with tourists, but I guess no one else wanted to be in the rain! Perfect for us 😉 Afterwards, we headed over to Hug Point for a lil change in scenery and outfits, and then I headed home to Seattle (after stopping by Pelican Brewing, my fave spot for clam chowder).
This rainy Cannon Beach couples session honestly gave me so much life. Sarah + Jay, thank you for being so incredible. Running around in the rain with you two was so much fun. You two are truly magic, and I will be obsessed with this rainy day forever.
xx

These images are so beautiful! You are totally right! Bad weather doesn’t matter if you are in a stunning location with the person you love. Can’t believe you didn’t love the beach growing up! I grew up by an English beach and would take California any day! 😉
